In 2024, CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law launched the "Forum of Famous Overseas Scholars" with the plan to invite famous overseas legal experts to give academic lectures in the two institutes, so as to deepen academic exchanges between China and foreign countries and promote exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign legal scholars.

The first lecture of the "Forum of Famous Overseas Scholars" was successfully held on January 2, 2024. The lecture, entitled "The Realization through Litigation of Joint and Several Liability: A Comparison of Substantive and Procedural Laws Between China and Germany", was given by Professor Yuanshi Bu from the Department of Law of Freiburg University in Germany. The lecture was presided over by Professor Zhu Guangxin, deputy head of the Civil Law Department of CASS Institute of Law, and attended by more than 30 scholars from CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law.

Before the lecture, Professor Bu held a meeting with Professor Xie Zengyi, deputy director of CASS Institute of Law. The guest and host reviewed the history of friendly exchanges and cooperation between Freiburg University and the two CASS institutes and exchanged views on further strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the future. Also attending the meeting were Mr. Zhang Jingui, head of the Research Coordination and International Cooperation Department of CASS Institute of Law, Professor Zhu Guangxin, Dr. Yu Jianan, an associate research fellow at CASS Institute of Law, and Dr. Cai Rui, an assistant research fellow at CASS Institute of Law.
