Professor Liu Huawen Elected Vice President of the Asian Society of International Law

Professor Liu Huawen, deputy director of the Institute of International Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was successfully elected the vice president of the Asian Society of International Law at the 25thmeeting of the Executive Council of the Society on August 18,2021.

As a non-profit international organization, the Asian Society of International Law is the most influential international law academic organization in Asia as well as one of the influential international law academic organizations in the world.It aims to promote the research, teaching and practice of international law in Asia and other regions, build a high-level academic exchange platform for relevant international law scholars and practitioners, and promote the contribution by Asian countries and regions to international law and world peace and development.The Society regularly organizes international conferences and regional seminars, and edits and publishes the academic journal Asian Journal of International Law. It has held biannual conferences and regional conferences in China. Ms. Xue Hanqin, a Chinese judge of the United Nations International Court of Justice, was thesecond president of the Society. She is now a member of the Advisory Committee of the Society.Professor Liu Huawen, Professor Zhang Xinjun from the Law Schoolof Tsinghua University and Associate Professor Chen Yifeng from the Law School of Peking University are currently Chinese members of the Executive Council of the Society.
