The third session of "Legal Research Methods Series" of Shatan Youth Forum (12th session in 2022), sponsored by CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, was held online on October 10, 2022. At the forum, Professor Xie Haiding, director of the Editorial Office and a deputy editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Law, and Professor Feng Jue, deputy director of the Editorial Office and a deputy editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Law, each gave a lecture. The forum was presided over by Professor Xie Zengyi, deputy director of CASS Institute of Law, and attended by nearly 50 persons, including Professor Zhai Guoqiang, deputy director of CASS Institute of International Law, and young researchers and some graduate students of the two institutes.
In her lecture, entitled "What is theoretical research", Professor Feng Jue expounded the issue from two perspectives: "theory" and "research". Professor Xie Haiding’s lecture focused on the topic of "Writing for Publication". After the lectures, the participants carried out discussions and exchanged opinions on such issues as the methods and standards of theoretical test, the refinement of theoretical topics in practical issues, the revision and review process of paper publication, and the structural arrangement in paper writing.
Since its initiation in March this year, a total of 12 sessions of "Shantan Youth Forum" has held, covering such topics as "Report on the Achievements of Youth Scientific Research Start-up Projects", "Frontiers of Legal Theory", "researches on Codification" and "Research Methods of Law". With cutting-edge themes, lively forms and in-depth discussions, the forum was widely welcomed and actively participated by young researchers from the two institutes, and achieved the purposes of exchanging views, inspiring new ideas and promoting scientific research.
