Mr. Ng Jern-Fei, King’s Counsel, visited the CASS Institute of Law and the CASS Institute of International Law on September 19, 2023. During the visit, he held a meeting with Professor Mo Jihong, director of the CASS Institute of Law and dean of the Law School of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and gave a lecture on the latest judicial developments in Singapore.

In his lecture, entitled "Moderate Court Intervention in Arbitration: Singapore's Vision", Mr. Ng Jern-Fei introduced the latest developments in the judicial review of arbitral awards by Singaporean courts, especially the BZW and other v. BZV Case in 2022, in which the Court of Appeal supported the decision of the High Court to revoke the arbitration award in the case.

The lecture was presided over by Professor Liu Jingdong, head of the International Economic Law Department of the CASS Institute of International Law. Associate Professor Mao Xiaofei, deputy head of the National Law Department of the CASS Institute of International Law, made concluding remarks at the lecture. Professor Li Qingming, deputy head of the Private International Law Department of the CASS Institute of International Law, and Associate Professor Zhang Wenguang, head of the Center for Maritime Law Studies of the CASS Institute of International Law, each made a speech after the lecture.
