Officials of the U.S. Embassy in China visit the CASS Institute of International Law and the CASS Institute of Law


A delegation of the U.S. Embassy in China, headed by Mr. Paul Stempel, Acting Director of Economic Affairs of the Embassy, visited the CASS Institute of Law and the CASS Institute of International Law on September 9, 2025. Other members of the delegation included Mr. Justin Smith and Ms. Jia Liwen. During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with Professor Mo Jihong, director of the CASS Institute of Law, and some researchers and staff members of the two CASS institutes.
 
 
In the meeting, Director Mo Jihong extended his warm welcome to members of the delegation, gave them a brief introduction to the CASS Institute of Law and the CASS Institute of International Law, and emphasized that the two CASS institutes attach great importance to international academic exchanges and cooperation. Mr. Stempel thanked Professor Mo for the warm reception, introduced members of the delegation, and expressed his wish to enhance mutual understanding and consensus between the Embassy and the two CASS institutes through this visit. Members of the delegation exchanged views with Professor Liu Xiaomei and Associate Professor Sun Nanxiang of the CASS Institute of International Law and Associate Professor Li Yanjie of the CASS Institute of Law on the Report on the Development of Foreign-related Rule of Law in China in 2024, published by the two CASS institutes, and on issues relating to the foreign-related rule of law in China, including related concepts and connotations, legislation and implementation, and the current situation and future development.
