The Seminar and Book Launching: “The Role Played by Innovation in Competition Law Analysis” Successfully Held


 

 

The Seminar “the Role Played by Innovation in Competition Law Analysis”, sponsored by CASS Institute of International Law and organized by the Center for Competition Law Studies of CASS Institute of International Law, was successfully held in Beijing on December 12, 2020. The seminar, held in a combined form of online and offline conference, was attended by about 30 experts and scholars from the Development Research Center of the State Council, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, University of CASS, Nankai University, Shandong University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Wuhan University, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, KDDI Research (Japan), Zhong Lun Law Firm and Tencent Company.

At the opening ceremony of the seminar, presided over by Huang Jin, an associate research fellow of the deputy head of the International Economic Law Department of CASS Institute of International Law, opening remarks were given by Professor Mo Jihong, Director of the Institute. After the opening ceremony, a ceremony was held for the launching of the book “The Role Played by Innovation in Competition Law Analysis” at which Mr. Han Wei, an associate professor at the Law School of the University of CASS, gave an introduction to the content of the new book. At the seminar, which consists of four units, the participants gave presentations and carried out discussions on various issues around the following topics: “the innovation consideration in competition law analysis”, “innovation and regulation: challenges faced by competition law and competition policies”, “competition law and intellectual property law: the role played by innovation” and “platform economy: innovation and competition law at the crossroad?” At the end of the seminar, Professor Wang Xiaoye, Director of Center for Competition Law Studies of CASS Institute of International Law, made concluding remarks, in which she pointed out that the seminar was very successful and of great significance to the study of the anti-trust law in China.
