On June 7, 2022, the first session of the "Codification Research Series" of the Shatan Youth Forum, hosted by CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, was held online. At the forum, Dr. Xia Xiaoxiong, an associate research fellowat the Commercial Law Department of CASS Institute of Law, and Dr. Wang Tianyu, an associate research fellow at the Social Law Department of CASS Institute of Law, each gave a lecture. The lectures were presided over by ProfessorXieZengyi, a deputy director of the Institute, and attended by more than 20 young researchers from the two institutes.

In his lecture, Dr. Xia Xiaoxiongdiscussedthe concept and path of commercial law codification and Dr. Wang Tianyutalked about“the codification of labor law: causes, goals and challenges" in his lecture. At the end of the forum, ProfessorXieZengyipointed that there are common issues in the study of the codification of different branches of law, such as the necessity of codification in the 21st century, the common foundation of and mutual learningbetween the different codesin terms of their structures, and the waysby which the codes reflect the remands of the times and Chinese characteristics, etc.
