The seminar "Promoting the Spirit of Socialist Rule of Law and Chinese Modernization", jointly organized by the CASS Center for the Studies of Xi Jinping Thoughts and Chinese Institute of Legal History, was successfully held at CASS Institute of Law on May 20, 2023. The seminar was presided over by Professor Chen Guoping, secretary of the Joint Party Committee of CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law and director of the CASS Center for the Studies of Xi Jinping Thoughts, and attended by over a dozen experts and scholars from CASS Institute of Law, CASS Institute of International Law, the Research Center for Comprehensively Law-based Governance of the Ministry of Justice, and the Chinese Institute of Legal History.

At the seminar, Mr. Li Fucheng, deputy director of the Research Center for Comprehensive Law-based Governance of the Ministry of Justice, Professor Mo Jihong, director of CASS Institute of Law, Professor He Hairen, head of the Jurisprudence Department of CASS Institute of Law, Professor Feng Jue, deputy editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Law of CASS Institute of Law, Professor Li Xia, head of the Constitutional and Administrative Law Department of CASS Institute of Law, Professor Liu Xiaomei, head of the Research Coordination and International Cooperation Department of CASS Institute of International Law, Professor Qu Xiangfei, head of the editorial department of Chinese Review of International Law of CASS Institute of International Law, and Professor Jiang Nanxiang, deputy head of the Research Coordination and International Cooperation Department of CASS Institute of International Law, each gave a speech in which they discussed such issues as the distinction between the spirit of rule of law and the principles of rule of law, the characteristics and essential requirements of Chinese modernization, legislative spirit, judicial spirit, law enforcement spirit and law-abiding spirit, the spirit and the culture of the rule of law, the importance of the "key few" in carrying forward the socialist spirit of rule of law, the intrinsic objective value and subjective connotation of law, and the embodiment of the excellent traditional Chinese culture and universal values of the human civilization in the spirit of rule of law.
