The sixth session of the Shatan Youth Forum "Rule of Law and Chinese Modernization", sponsored by the CASS Institute of Law and the CASS Institute of International Law, was held in Beijing on May 16th, 2023. At the forum, a lecture was given by Dr. Fu Panfeng, an assistant research fellow at the Private International Law Department of the CASS Institute of International Law. The lecture was presided over by Professor Liu Xiaomei, head of the Research Coordination and International Cooperation Department of CASS Institute of International Law, and attended by more than 30 young researchers from two institutes. In the lecture, entitled "Modernization of China's International Commercial Arbitration System against the Background of Revision of Arbitration Law", Dr. Fu reviewed, in light of the revision of the Arbitration Law, the key points of modernization of China's international commercial arbitration system from four aspects: arbitration agreement, arbitration tribunal, arbitration procedure and arbitration award, pointed out important issues in the process of modernization of China's international commercial arbitration system, and put forward suggestions for the future development of China's international commercial arbitration system. After the lecture, the participants discussed and exchanged opinions on such issues as the trend of development of arbitration towards litigation, commonalities and differences between arbitration and litigation, and arbitrability of disputes in anti-monopoly, intellectual property and other fields.
