The Seminar on Promoting the Prosperity and Developing Digital Law, as a part of a series of activities organized in celebrating the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Cyber and Information Law Department of the Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was successfully held in Beijing on the morning of August 15, 2023. The seminar was sponsored by the Institute of Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and organized by the Cyber and Information Law Department of the Institute of Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the research teams of the "Peak Climbing Strategy" and "Digital Law" of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the research group of "Investigation on the Construction of AI Ethical Review and Supervision System in China" and SFC Institute of Compliance Technology and attended by about 50 experts and scholars from the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee, China Law Society, China Cyberspace Research Institute, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Nankai University, China University of Political Science and Law, Chinese People's Public Security University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, SFC Institute of Compliance Technology and other scientific research institutions.
At the opening ceremony, presided over by Professor Zhou Hanhua, deputy director of Institute of Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. Jiang Wei, Vice Chairman of China Law Society, President of Cyber and Information Law Society, and Vice Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Supreme People's Court, Professor Li Lin, Deputy Director the Academic Division of Social, Political and Legal Studies of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Professor Chen Su, a member of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Law, each delivered an opening speech.
In the next part of the seminar, keynote speeches were given by Professor Zhang Xinbao from the Law School of Renmin University of China, Professor Shen Weixing from the Law School of Tsinghua University, Professor Zhang Ping from the Law School of Peking University, Professor Song Hualin from the Law School of Nankai University, Professor Wu Tao from the Law School of Central University of Finance and Economics, Professor Zhao Peng from China University of Political Science and Law, Professor Ding Xiaodong from the Law School of Renmin University of China, Associate Professor Liu Han from the Law School of Tsinghua University, Associate Professor Dai Xin from the Law School of Peking University, Research Fellow Liu Jinrui from the Rule of Law Institute of China Law Society, Associate Professor Liu Xiaochun from the Law School of the University Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Professor Su Yu from the Law School of Chinese People's Public Security University.
In the release of the latest research achievements, presided over by Assistant Researcher Liu Canhua from the Cyber and Information Law Department of the Institute of Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Dr. Xu Jiujiu, an assistant research fellow at the Cyber and Information Law Department of Institute of Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, introduced the digital law course system developed by Digital Law Team of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Dr. Zhu Yue, an assistant professor at the Law School of Tongji University, and Mr. Wang Jun, the Chief Researcher at SFC Institute of Compliance Technology, introduced two monographs written by members of the research group and published by China Social Sciences Press: EU Platform Legislation and the Development of Platform Economy and Protection of Personal Information: Practical Reflections and Institutional Prospect.
After four hours of heated discussion, the participants of the seminar reached a series of important consensuses on how to better promote the prosperity and development of digital law, which will contribute to the construction of discipline system, academic system and discourse system of digital law in China.
