The seminar on "Constructing China's Independent Academic System of Law Science: Inheritance and Innovation" and the launching of the first batch of the book series Selected Articles from the Chinese Journal of Law, sponsored by CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law and jointly organized by the Editorial Board of the Chinese Journal of Law and Hengqin Research Base of the Think Tank for Comprehensive Law-based Governance of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, were held in Zhuhai on December 9, 2023. The event was organized with the support of Yingke Law Firm, pkulaw.com, Social Sciences Academic Press and China Social Science Press and attended by experts and scholars from more than 30 universities, research institutions and practical sectors, including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Legislative Affairs Bureau of the Executive Committee of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, the Legislative Research Center of Zhuhai Special Economic Zone, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Sichuan University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, East China Normal University, Nanjing University, Sun Yat-sen University, Gansu Academy of Social Sciences, pkulaw.com, the Nanjing Branch of the Commercial Press, Yingke Law Firm, as well as representatives from more than 10 law journals.
At the opening ceremony, speeches were given by Professor Mo Jihong, Director of CASS Institute of Law, Professor Ji Xiangde, President of Social Sciences Academic Press, Professor Chen Su, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Law, Professor Liao Fan, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Ms. Zhong Yingyi, Director of the Legislative Affairs Bureau of the Executive Committee of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone.
After the opening ceremony, the first batch of the book series Selected Articles from the Chinese Journal of Law and the book series "Law-based Belt and Road" Library were released.
At the seminar, which was divided into three units, participants gave presentations and carries out discussions on various issues around the topics of "Constructing China's Independent Academic System of Law Science", "Law Journals and China's Independent Academic System of Law Science" and "Development of Law Journals and Academic Evaluation in the Field of Law Science".
