The opening of the Major CASS Innovation Project on the Study and Explanation of the Modern Civilization of the Chinese Nation - "Research on Building Modern Civilization of the Chinese Nation and Constructing China's Independent Legal Knowledge System" was held in Beijing on January 25, 2024. Professor Mo Jihong, director of CASS Institute of Law, delivered a speech at the meeting. Professor Zhang Sheng, the chief expert of the project and head of the Legal History Department of CASS Institute of Law, gave a presentation on the project, explaining in detail its theme, significance, sub-project setting, final results, and schedule arrangement. Professor Sun Xianzhong, a member of the Standing Committee and the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People's Congress, and a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Zhu Yong, honorary director of the Institute for Legal History Studies of China University of Political Science and Law, Professor Zhang Guanzi, director of CASS Institute of Information Studies, Professor Li Xuemei, director of the Institute for Chinese Ancient Legal Documents of China University of Political Science and Law, and Professor Nie Xin, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a professor at Tsinghua University Law School, each made a comment on the project. The meeting was also attended by Professor Chen Guoping, Party Secretary of and a research fellow at the National Academy of Economic Strategy of CASS, Professor Luo Guannan, Deputy Director of the Institute for Legal History Studies of China University of Political Science and Law, Associate Professor Wang Shuaiyi, an associate research fellow at CASS Institute of Law, and Associate Professor Li Fupeng, Director of the Institute for Legal History Studies of the Law School of China University of Political Science and Law, and other members of the project team.
