The fifth session of the Shatan Youth Forum "Rule of Law and Chinese Modernization" in 2024, sponsored by CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, was held in Beijing on May 7, 2024. In this session of the forum, an academic lecture titled "Application of Probation from the Perspective of Social Science Law" was given by Dr. Hu Changming, an associate research fellow at the Department of the Survey of the National Condition of the Rule of Law of CASS Institute of Law.

The lecture was presided over by Mr. Zhang Jingui, head of the Research Coordination and Department of CASS Institute of Law, and attended by more than 30 young researchers from the two institutes. After the lecture, the participants carried out discussions on issues such as the impact of detention on judicial decisions and the characteristics and importance of empirical legal research.
