A delegation from the Uruguayan Embassy in China visits CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law


A delegation of the Embassy of Uruguay in China, headed by Ambassador Fernando Lugris, visited CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law and held a meeting with Professor Mo Jihong, Director of CASS Institute of Law, and other staff members of the two institutes on July 16, 2024. Other members of the delegation included Professor Diego Camaño, a famous criminalist and lawyer in Uruguay, and Ms. Lucía Rodríguez, a second secretary of the Embassy.

 

 

At the meeting, Director Mo Jihong extended his warm welcome to the Uruguayan guests, introduced to them the basic situation of CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, and pointed out that the two CASS institutes attach great importance to international academic exchanges and cooperation. Ambassador Lugris thanked the two institutes for the reception and introduced Professor Diego Camaño, a famous criminalist and lawyer in Uruguay. He hoped that this visit would enhance mutual understanding and build a bridge for legal exchanges between Uruguay and China. The hosts and guests exchanged views on issues related to international law and criminal law. Professor Camaño asked questions about the relationship between international treaties and Chinese domestic laws and the origin of China's criminal law and criminal procedure law. Professor Dai Ruijun, head of the International Human Rights Law Department of CASS Institute of International Law, and Professor Dong Kun, deputy head of the Procedural Law Department of CASS Institute of Law, answered Professor Camaño’s questions.

 

 

Also attending the meeting were Dr. Zhang Zhigang, an associate research fellow at the Criminal Law Department of CASS Institute of Law, and Ms. Cui Jingchen, a staff member of the Research Coordination and International Cooperation Department of CASS Institute of Law.
