The "Seminar on Judicial Protection of Data Rights and Intellectual Property Rights", jointly sponsored by Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court and the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was successfully held at the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on the afternoon of September 27, 2024. The seminar was a part of the Supreme People's Court's 2023 major judicial research project "Research on Judicial Protection of Data Rights and Intellectual Property Rights", jointly undertaken by Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court and the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences since September 2023. After one year of in-depth systematic research, the project has been basically completed. Major judicial research projects of the Supreme People’s Court are an important platform for organizing courts and law teaching and research institutions in the whole country to carry out judicial research. The seminar was divided into three sessions, namely “the institutional structure of data rights and interests”, “unfair data competition”, and “the balance between the circulation, utilization and protection of data”, in which experts and scholars from academic and practical circles carried out discussions on cutting-edge issues relating to the basic theory, practical experience and challenges of data rights and interests and paths to their judicial protection.
