The eighth session of “the 2024 Shatan Youth Forum: The Rule of Law and the Chinese Approach to Modernization" successfully held


 

 

The eighth session of the lecture series “the 2024 Shatan Youth Forum: the Rule of Law and the Chinese Approach to Modernization", sponsored by CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, was recently held in Beijing. In this session, Dr. Liu Zhixin, an associate research fellow at the Constitutional and Administrative Law Department of CASS Institute of Law, gave an academic lecture entitled "The Crime of Abusing a Family Member from the Constitutional Perspective". The lecture was presided over by Professor Liu Renwen, head of the Criminal Law Department of the Institute, and attended by more than 30 young researchers from CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law. After the lecture, the participants carried out discussion with Dr. Liu on such issues as the principle of a legally prescribed punishment for a specified crime, the state’s obligation of protection, the constitutional status of women, and the constitutive elements of the crime of abuse.
