The sixth session of the 2024 Innovation Forum of CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, jointly organized by the innovation project team on "New Topics in Criminal Law in the Era of Codification" and the innovation project team on "Studies on Key Issues in the Theory and Practice of Procedural Law", was held in Beijing on October 22, 2024.

At the forum, presided over by Professor He Qingren from the Law School of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Liu Renwen and Professor Dong Kun, two research fellows at CASS Institute of Law, each gave a keynote speech on the subject of "Perfecting the Substantive and Procedural Criminal Legislation on Unit Crimes".

In their lectures, Professor Liu Renwen explained the legislative background of, existing problems in, and suggestions for improving the substantive and procedural criminal law on unit crimes, and Professor Dong Kun introduced the legislative improvement made by China on the criminal procedure law for unit crimes. Associate Jiao Xupeng, Associate Professor Ma Ke, Assistant Professor Liu Chenqi, and Assistant Professor Zou Yuxiang served as commentators at the lectures. Professor Li Judan, Associate Research Professor Liu Zhixin, and Associate Professor Xu Chi exchanged views with the keynote speakers on such issues as the unit scopes of unit crimes, the subjects of unit crimes, and the differences between international criminal law and domestic criminal law in the identification of unit crimes.

The forum was attended by about 50 researchers from CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law as well as graduate students from the Law School of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
