The seminar "Codification of Civil Law: Comparison and Interaction Between China and Belgium" held at CASS Institute of Law


 

The seminar "Codification of Civil Law: Comparison and Interaction Between China and Belgium", sponsored by CASS Institute of Law and organized by the Center for Private Law Studies of CASS Institute of Law, was successfully held at CASS Institute of Law on November 2, 2024. The seminar was attended by experts and scholars from University of Leuven, Tsinghua University, China University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, and CASS Institute of Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

 

 

The seminar was divided into two units, in which participants gave presentations and carried out discussion on major issues relating to the civil codes of China and Belgium, including the codification of civil law in Belgium, new developments of the Book on Contract in the Chinese Civil Code, the lesson draw from Roman law by China in the codification of civil law, the development of damages for breach of contract in Chinese Civil Code, the right to claim personality rights in Chinese Civil Code, and the development of norms of legality of juristic acts in Chinese Civil Code. 

At the end of the seminar, concluding remarks were made by Professor Xie Hongfei, head of the Civil Law Department of CASS Institute of Law.
