The fifth lecture of the High-end Lecture Series on the Foreign-related Rule of Law of CASS Institute of International Law was held in Beijing on January 15, 2025. The lecture was jointly organized by the National Research Base of the Foreign-related Rule of Law of the CASS Institute of International Law, the Dengfeng Strategic Foreign-related Rule of Law Advantage Discipline of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Center for Foreign-related Rule of Law Studies of CASS Institute of International Law.

The lecture, "China's Participation in Three Cases of Advisory Opinions of International Judicial Institutions: Legal Propositions and Contributions", was given by Mr. Ma Xinmin, Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was presided over by Ms. Wang Ying, a deputy director of the CASS Institute of International Law. Professor Mo Jihong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Secretary of the Joint Party Committee of CASS Institute of International Law and CASS Institute of Law, delivered a speech before the lecture.

In the lecture, Mr. Ma Xinmin reviewed in detail the participation of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the drafting of the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice on Climate Change, and the Advisory Opinion of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea on Climate Change and the political and legal tests it faced in this process. He also explained China's propositions and contributions in these three cases and shared his thoughts on China's major-country diplomacy and participation in global governance.
