The year 2025 marks the fifth anniversary of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. In January this year, Party General Secretary Xi Jinping sent a letter to the Ninth National Congress of China Law Society in which he called on legal workers to make new contributions to the construction of a higher level law-based socialist state and promotion of Chinese-style modernization. In respond to Xi Jinping’s call and further promote in-depth research on Xi Jinping Though on the Rule of Law, the academic seminar on "Promoting the construction of a higher-level law-based socialist state through legal innovation" was held on June 6, 2025. The seminar was sponsored by CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, organized by CASS Center for Studies of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, and attended by more than 60 scholars from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Law Society, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai Law Society, Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, and other universities and research institutions.

 

 

At the seminar, participants gave speeches and carried out in-depth discussions on various issues around the topics of "the significance of Xi Jinping 's letter to China Law Society", "legal reform, legal innovation and modernization of the legal system" and "institutional goals of and practical paths to building a higher-level law-based socialist state".
