The Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Further Comprehensively Deepening Reforms and Promoting Chinese-style Modernization, adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, emphasizes the need to improve the labor relations consultation and coordination mechanism and strengthen the protection of workers' rights and interests. To promote the implementation of this decision, the seminar "Challenges of Digitalization to Labor Law and China’s Responses", organized by the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was held in Beijing on June 21, 2025. The seminar was attended by more than 40 experts and scholars from the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Supreme People's Court, Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, and the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

At the seminar, participants gave presentations and conducted in-depth discussions on issues relating to the theme of the seminar, including main challenges posed by digitalization to labor law and China’s responses, identification of labor relations and protection of workers' rights and interests, and protection of social insurance rights and interests of platform workers.
