A Delegation of CASS Institute of Law visits in Canada


A Delegation of CASS Institute of Law, headed by Professor Mo Jihong, director of the Institute, visited the Law Faculty of University of Ottawa  and the  Law Faculty of University of Montreal in Canada on June 16-22, 2025. Members of delegation included Dr. Wang Yi, an associate senior editor of the Chinese Journal of Law, Dr. Jia Yuan, an editor of Global Law Review, and Dr. Wang Qi, an assistant research fellow at the Commercial Law Department of the Institute.
 
 
 
The delegation visited the Law Faculty of University of Ottawa and attended the seminar on "Legal Regulation of Artificial Intelligence" hosted by Faculty on June 17 . At the seminar, presided over by Assistant Professor Marcelo Thompson of Common Law Section of the Law Faculty of University of Ottawa, speeches were given by Professor Michael Geist,  Professor Jeremy de Beer, Professor Wolfgang Alschner, and Assistant Professor Marcelo Thompson from the Common Law Section of the Law Faculty of University of Ottawa, and Dr. Wang Yi, Dr. Jia Yuan, and Dr. Wang Qi from CASS Institute of Law on various issues related to the theme of the seminar.
The delegation visited the Law Faculty of the University of Montreal and attend the seminar on "New Technologies and Law" organized by the Faculty on June 19th. At the seminar, Professor Pierre Larouche from the Center for Business Law and International Trade and the Faculty of Law, Professor Viktoria Robertson from Vienna University of Economics and Business, Professor Mo Jihong, Dr. Wang Yi, Dr. Jia Yuan and Dr. Wang Qi each gave a keynote speech on the development of artificial intelligence and legal response thereto from such perspectives as jurisprudence, administrative law, criminal law and commercial law.
 
 
 
On June 20th, the delegation had an in-depth exchange and reached a broad consensus with Professor Stéphane Rouseau, associate-dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Montreal, on the specific areas and methods of future cooperation between the two institutions. On the same day, the delegation also exchanged views with Chinese students at the Law Faculty.
