Professor Benjamin L. Liebman of Columbia Law School gave a lecture at CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law


Professor Benjamin L. Liebman, vice dean of Columbia Law School and director of the Hong Yen Chang Center for Chinese Legal Studies, gave  a lecture on the State of Rule of Law in the United States at CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law in Beijing on July 8, 2025.
 
 
Before the lecture, Professor Liebman hed a meeting with Professor Li Honglei, Secretary of the Joint Party Committee of CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, Professor Mo Jihong, Director of CASS Institute of Law,  and Professor Xie Zengyi, deputy director of CASS Institute of Law. During the meeting, the hosts and the guest reviewed the long-term cooperation and in-depth academic exchanges between CASS Institute of Law and Columbia Law School and the Hong Yen Chang Center for Chinese Legal Studies and reached broad consensus on further strengthening the cooperation.
 
 
In the lecture, Professor Liebman introduced the institutional changes and development trends in the field of rule of law in the United States in recent years based on his long-term experience in comparative research of Chinese and American legal systems. Professor Mo Jihong gave a speech before the lecture. The lecture was presided over by Professor Li Honglei and attended by more than 40 scholars from CASS Institute of Law, CASS Institute of International Law, the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University.
