The launching of the National Social Science Fund major project "Research on Western Human Rights Discourse and Human Rights Diplomacy" and the academic seminar on "Western Human Rights Discourse and Human Rights Diplomacy against the Background of Great Changes" were recently held at CASS Institute of Law in Beijing. The event was attended by more than 30 scholars from research institutes and universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing Institute of Technology, Nankai University, Central South University, Nanjing Normal University, East China Institute of Science and Technology, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Zhengzhou University, Zhejiang International Studies University, CASS Institute of Law, CASS Institute of International Law, CASS Institute of American Studies, and CASS Institute of World Economics and Politics.

At the launching of the National Social Science Fund major project "Research on Western Human Rights Discourse and Human Rights Diplomacy", Professor Huang Jinrong, a research fellow at the CASS Institute of Law and the leader of the project, gave an introduction to the basic design of the project.

At the seminar, which was divided into four units, participants gave presentations and carried out discussions on the theoretical and practical issues of western human rights discourse and human rights diplomacy, including "Differences in Human Rights Views between the East and the West and Theoretical Logic of Human Rights Discourse", "Western Human Rights Discourse Expansion Model and Human Rights Diplomacy Tools", "Human Rights Discourse and Human Rights Diplomacy in United Nations Agencies", and "Western Human Rights Diplomacy towards China and China's Coping Strategies against the Background of Great Changes".
