A delegation of CASS Institute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, headed by Professor Mo Jihong, director of CASS Institute of Law, carried out academic exchanges in Mexico and Brazil on July 19-27, 2025. Other members of the delegation were Professor Liu Xiaomei, Professor Dai Ruijun, Associate Professor Xu Chi, Associate Professor Liu Zhixin, and Assistant Professor Shen Qian.

The delegation attended a seminar on "Democracy in Judicial Trial and the Development Trend of Chinese and Mexican Judicial Systems" in Mexico City on July 20, 2025. The seminar was participated by representatives from the judicial, academic and practical circles of China and Mexico.

The delegation visited the Maranhão State Court in Brazil and exchanged views with judges of the court on the judicial systems of China and Brazil on July 21, 2025.
Later, the delegation visited the Federal University of Maranhão. Professor Mo Jihong, as the Secretary-General of the Global Think Tank Network for Democracy Studies, awarded the membership certificate of the Network to the University. He pointed out that China and Brazil are both BRICS countries, and their cooperation covers many fields such as economy and law. Academic exchanges will help enhance mutual understanding and promote pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
Finally, the delegation visited the Attorney General's Office of Maranhão State and attended the international seminar on "The Democracy Basis of Criminal Justice: From the Comparative Perspective of the Chinese and Brazilian Procuratorial Systems and Their Basic Principles".

The delegation attended the conference on "The Concept of People-Centered Democracy" in Rio de Janeiro on July 23, 2025. Professor Mo Jihong, as the Secretary-General of the Global Think Tank Network for Democracy Studies, awarded the membership certificate of the Network to the Federal University of Fluminense.

The delegation attended the second China-Latin American and Caribbean States Human Rights Roundtable in Sao Paulo, Brazil on July 25, 2025. The theme of the roundtable is "China-Latin American and Caribbean States Community with a Shared Future and Development of Human Rights". The roundtable was attended by more than 130 government officials, experts and scholars in the field of human rights from China, Latin American and the Caribbean countries, as well as representatives of relevant social organizations, think tanks, and mass media. At the roundtable, participants carried out discussions and reached consensuses on the human rights development cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries against the background of new trends of development, such as the era of digital intelligence and climate change, and the contribution of China and Latin American and Caribbean countries to global human rights governance.

This visit set up an important platform for exchanges and cooperation between China and Mexico and between China and Brazil in the academic field. Representatives of both sides had in-depth discussions and contributed wisdom and strength to the exchanges and development in the legislative and judicial fields, as well as in the fields of democracy and human rights in China, Mexico and Brazil.
