The Symposium on Modernization of the Chinese Rule of Law and Construction of China's Independent Civil Law Knowledge System, sponsored by the Center for Private Law Studies of the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was held in Beijing on October 26, 2025. The symposium was attended by 20 experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Central University of Finance and Economics, China University of Political Science and Law, Jilin University, Beijing Technology and Business University, Zhengzhou University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Minzu University of China, National Prosecutor College, and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

At the symposium, the participants carried out in-depth discussions and came to the conclusion that, in the construction of an independent civil law knowledge system, China should base itself on its own national conditions and civil judicial practice, focus on the implementation of the civil code, constantly improve the civil legislation system, draw on the outstanding achievements of other countries in civil legislation and civil law theories, innovate civil law theories, improve the international influence of its civil legislation and civil law theories, and strive to build an independent civil law knowledge system with Chinese characteristics, so as to promote economic and social development and modernization of the rule of law.
