The symposium on Chinese-style Modernization and Human Rights Protection: Studying the Spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing on November 6, 2025.

The symposium was sponsored by the Center for Human Rights Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, with support from the Xinjiang Human Rights Research Center of the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, organized by the Editorial Board of Chinese Review of International Law, and attended by more than 20 experts and scholars from CASS Institute of Law, CASS Institute of International Law, and the Xinjiang Work Research Institute of the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences. At the symposium, participants carried out in-depth discussions around the theme of "Chinese-style modernization and human rights protection" by focusing on the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
At the end of the symposium, Professor Liu Huawen, director of CASS Institute of International Law, presented on behalf of CASS Center for Human Rights Studies a series of publications, including the series of translated works "Commentaries on International Human Rights Treaties" and recent issues of the journal Chinese Review of International Law, to the representatives of Xinjiang Human Rights Research Center of the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences.
