The Seminar "80 Years after the Tokyo Trials: History, the Rule of Law, and Peace" Held in Beijing


The Seminar "80 Years after the Tokyo Trials: History, the Rule of Law, and Peace" was held in Beijing on May 15, 2026.
The seminar, as a part of the "Series of Academic Activities Commemorating the Tenth Anniversary of the '5.17' Important Speech", was jointly sponsored by CASS Institute of Law, CASS Institute of International Law, the Tokyo Trials Research Center and the Research Institute of War Crimes Trials and World Peace of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and CASS Institute of Japan Studies, jointly organized by the Think Tank of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on Comprehensive Law-based Governance, the Institute for National Memory and International Peace Studies, and the China Branch of the International Association of Penal Law. It was attended by more than 40 experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Institute of National Memory and International Peace, Harbin Academy of Social Sciences, and other universities and research institutions.
At the seminar, Professor Mo Jihong, director of CASS Institute of Law, announced the formal establishment of the War Crimes Trials and International Criminal Law Research Department of the CASS Think Tank on the Comprehensive Law-based Governance.
