The launching of the Blue Book on the Rule of Law: Report on the Development of the Judicial System in China and the Seminar on the Development of the Rule of Law, jointly sponsored by CASS Law Institute and Social Sciences Academic Press, were held in Beijing on May 19, 2021. The book comprehensively summarizes China's practices and achievements in deepening the comprehensive supporting reforms of the judicial system, improving the level of human rights protection, highlighting the awareness of serving the people, enhancing social governance capacity, optimizing the law-based business environment, giving full play to the role of informatization, and actively preventing and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and looks at the prospects of development of the judicial system in China in the future. This year’s Blue Book carries out the first assessment of the openness of prison affairs of provincial prison administrations across the country, analyzes the achievements, problems and development trends, and launches a series of investigation reports, including Recent Development and Evaluation of Judicial Accountability Reform, Observation of the Current Situation of Development of Procuratorial Public Interest Litigation in China, Adjustment and Improvement of the Scope of Participation by People's Assessors in Trial, and Progress in Judicial Protection of Rights and Interests of the Child.
