This book contains the legislative proposals, suggestions and reports put forward by Professor Sun Xianzhong, a famous Chinese jurist, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and a research fellow at CASS Institute of Law, in the process of compilation of the Chinese Civil Code when he served as a deputy to the National People’s Congress and a member of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress, as well as some of his written lectures and published articles on the Chinese Civil Code. As the accumulation of the author’s excellent articles and academic skills in his several decades of civil law research, it explains the basic approaches adopted by China to the compilation of the Civil Code from three perspectives, namely legal thought, legal emotion, and legal technique, thus providing readers with a detailed context in which the Chinese Civil Code was born.
