Yang Yifan and Chen Linghai (eds), Selected Regulations of the Qing Dynasty (Part A) and (Part B), Beijing: China University of Political Science and Law Press, 2025.
This book is the first compilation of scattered regulations in the Qing Dynasty published since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On the basis of consulting tens of thousands of historical records, archives, local chronicles and inscriptions, the editors of this book selected and compiled more than 700 pieces of representative regulations of the Qing Dynasty that are complete in content and have not been published before. The book is divided into two parts. Part A consists of 14 volumes, covering three types of regulations: administration of government officials, food and goods, and military administration. Part B consists of 11 volumes, covering six types of regulations: prison administration, litigation, public security, schools, river engineering and construction, and trade. The documents collected in this book fill in a gap in the compilation of regulations in the Qing Dynasty. They are not only precious materials for studying the legal history in the Qing Dynasty, especially the transition from ancient law to modern times, but also have important value for studying the political history, economic history and social development history of the Qing Dynasty.
