This book focuses on the jurisdictional immunity and immunity from measures of constraint before a Chinese court enjoyed by foreign states and their property, systematically explains the legislative purpose, essence of provisions and applicable rules of the Foreign State Immunity Law, and provides legal guidance for studying and handling foreign-related sovereignty cases. Divided into five chapters, it mainly discusses the following issues: general provisions of the Law; jurisdictional immunity of foreign states and its exceptions; immunity from measures of constraint before a Chinese court enjoyed by the property of a foreign state and its exceptions; the trial and enforcement procedures for civil cases involving foreign states and their property; the relationship between the Foreign State Immunity Law and diplomatic privileges and immunities, the principle of reciprocity, and international treaties; and the temporal and spatial effects of the Foreign State Immunity Law.
