The academic seminar “the 25th Anniversary of the Practice of ‘One Country, Two Systems‘ in Hong Kong: Achievements, Experiences and Prospects“ successfully held

The academic seminar "25th Anniversary of the Practice of 'One Country, Two Systems' in Hong Kong: Achievements, Experiences and Prospects", jointly sponsored by CASS Institute of Law, CASS Center for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Studies and CASS Center for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Law Studies,was successfully held on May 21, 2022. The seminar, which was held online, was attended by about 30 experts and scholars from the relevant departments of the Central Government, the Hong Kong and Macao Research Institute of the State Council, CASS Institute of Law, CASS Institute of American Studies, CASS Institute of Political Science, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, Beihang University, Shanghai Institute of International Studies, China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, Shenzhen University and Dalian Maritime University.

 

 

Wang Linggui, deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and Mo Jihong, director of CASS Institute of Law, each delivered an opening speech atthe opening ceremony, which was presided over by ZhiZhenfeng, a research fellow at CASS Institute of Law.

The seminarwas divided into three units, in which the participants carried out in-depth discussions on the major achievements made by Hong Kong in the practice of "One Country, Two Systems", the valuable experience ofHong Kongin practicing"One Country, Two Systems", and the future prospects of the Hong Kong practice of "One Country, Two Systems".

At the closing ceremony of the seminar, presided over by Chen Xinxin, director of CASS Center for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Law Studies, Ping Huang, director of the CASS Center for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Studied, stressed that, in order to enable Hong Kong to achieve further development, better integrate itself into the country and serve the country's larger strategy, it is necessary to strengthen Hong Kong research, help Hong Kong to enter a new stage of restored orderand further prosperity, and promote the upgraded version of "One Country, Two Systems". At the end of the ceremony, ZhiZhenfeng made a concluding speech in which he pointed out that, in the new world system and new international pattern, Chinese scholars are faced with new tasks in studies of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and must answer manynewquestions relating to "One Country, Two Systems" in the new era. For this purpose, academic echelons of the old, middle-aged and young scholars must be formed to pass the research work from generation to generation.
