The Seminar in Commemoration of the Second Anniversary of the Promulgation of the Chinese Civil Code: Commentary and Application of the Civil Code was successfully held online on May 30, 2022. The seminar, hosted by CASS Institute of Law and the Center for Private Law Studies of CASS Institute of Law and attended by experts, scholars from more than 40 universities and institutions as well as media representatives in the whole the country, was aimed at promoting and deepening the correct implementation of the Civil Code and the prosperity and development of civil law research.
At the opening ceremony, presided over by Professor Xie Hongfei, head of the Civil Law Department and director of the Center for Private Law Studies of CASS Institute of Law, Professor Mo Jihong, director of CASS Institute of Law, and Professor Chen Su, a member of CASS, each delivered an opening speech. In the speeches, they extended warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the participants of the seminar and all those who participated in the compilation of the Commentary on the Civil Code, and recalled the outstanding contributions made by the older generation of scholars from the CASS Institute of Law such as professors Wang Jiafu, Xie Huaishi, Chen Hanzhang, Zheng Chengsi, Wang Baoshu and Liang Huixing.
The seminar was divided into such links as keynote speeches, presentations and group discussions, in which the participating experts and scholars thoroughly expounded and carried out heated exchanges and discussions on the major theoretical and practical issues in various books of the Civil Code from a systematic and scientific point of view.
At the closing ceremony of the seminar, presided over by Professor Zhu Guangxin, deputy head of the Civil Law Department of CASS Institute of Law, Professor Sun Xianzhong delivered a closing speech, in which he called on colleagues in the legal profession to make joint efforts to promote the correct implementation of the Civil Code and earnestly shoulder the lofty mission of building the "three systems" of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics.
