The seminar "Implementation of the Seed Law and Protection of Intellectual Property in the Seed Industry" was held at CASS Institute of Lawon July 22, 2022.The seminar was jointly sponsored by CASS Law Institute, the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and theScience and Technology Bureau ofYazhou Bay Science Park of Sanya City and organized byCASS Center for Intellectual Property Studies and the Science and Technology Bureau of Yazhou Bay Science Park of Sanya City with the Science and Technology Law Research Committee of Beijing Law Society and the Intellectual Property Development Research Center of China National Intellectual Property Administration as the supporting units.

The seminar was attended by 30 experts and scholars from state legislative, administrative and judicial organs and related scientific research, teaching and R&D institutions, includingMr. Liu Zhenwei, vicechairman of the Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, Mr. Zhang Fugui, Head of the Law Office of the Agricultural and Rural Affair Committee of the National People's Congress, Professor Chen Guoping, Secretary of theJoint Party Committee of CASSInstitute of Law and CASS Institute of International Law, Professor Mo Jihong, Director ofCASS Institute of Law, ProfessorXieZengyi, Deputy Director of CASS Institute of Law, Mr. Yang Haisheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Seed Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ms. Luo Xia, a judge at the Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People's Court, Ms. Xia Junli, President of the Intellectual Property Court of Hainan Free Trade Port, Mr. Cui Yehan, Chief Agronomist of the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Mr. Lin Xiangming,Vice President of ChinaAcademy of Fishery Sciences, and Ms. Hu Anqi, Director of the Second Division of the Department of Treaty and Law of China National Intellectual Property Administration. At the seminar, the participants, focusing on how to better implement the new "Seed Law" and strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights in the seed industry, carried outin-depth discussions on such issues as the improvement of the protection system, legal remedies, examination and testing, and variety identificationfor new plant varieties, and intellectual property protection, application and institutional innovation of the seed industry in Hainan Free Trade Port.
